USCGAUX celebrates 70 years

On June 27th Flotilla 6 participated in the 70th anniversary of the USCG Auxiliary ceremony in New York harbor. Quite a few Auxiliary, active duty Coast Guard and
NY Police boats were in attendance as former NYC Police Commissioner Ray Kelley, his wife Veronica (a former Coastie), and the Director of the Auxiliary made congratulatory remarks. A "Pass in Review" flotilla by the Long Splice and the Lady B in front of the Statue of Liberty completed the ceremony.
In attendance aboard the Semper Paratus were Dick Horton, Vinny Camera and Jeff Grossman. To see a photos as the day unfolded taken by flotilla members, navigate to the albums page or click here.
Change of Watch a success
Sunday, January 25 @ 22:18 Filed under: Events
The annual Division 6 Change of Watch ceremony was held on Sunday, January 25th at the Four Brothers Restaurant in Lake Mahopac, NY. There were about 60 USCG Auxiliary members and their guests in attendance from every one of the 7 flotillas within the Division, who guard the shores of Lake Mahopac, NY, the Hudson River, NY, or Mamaroneck, Long Island Sound, NY. Several senior leaders of the Active Duty Coast Guard were also on hand to participate in the event and offer their appreciation to the Auxiliary members for their service and for their significant contributions as part of Team Coast Guard.
It was an afternoon of acknowledging the new Division and Flotilla elected leadership. Many awards were presented in recognition for the many hours of work and service given by the all volunteer members in program areas such as, but not limited to Public Education, Vessel Safety Checks, and Operations underway or in the air. All seemed to have a good time in fellowship and in bidding on the many interesting items at the Silent Auction, as well learning of the upcoming 2009 vision and mission of our new Division Commander.
