USCGAUX celebrates 70 years

On June 27th Flotilla 6 participated in the 70th anniversary of the USCG Auxiliary ceremony in New York harbor. Quite a few Auxiliary, active duty Coast Guard and
NY Police boats were in attendance as former NYC Police Commissioner Ray Kelley, his wife Veronica (a former Coastie), and the Director of the Auxiliary made congratulatory remarks. A "Pass in Review" flotilla by the Long Splice and the Lady B in front of the Statue of Liberty completed the ceremony.
In attendance aboard the Semper Paratus were Dick Horton, Vinny Camera and Jeff Grossman. To see a photos as the day unfolded taken by flotilla members, navigate to the albums page or click here.

The flotilla wishes Doug Brusa fair winds and following seas as he shoves off on an exciting new assignment with Oregon State University as the Director of Development for the Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences. As part of the July 9th sendoff during the monthly flotilla meeting he received a laminated Division 06 Hudson River area of responsibility chart by which to remember us by once he gets settled in in Corvallis, OR. Doug has been a wonderful asset to our flotilla and will be missed. Best of luck, Doug and keep in touch.

Also, there is an upcoming AUXCOM course, but complete details with regard to time and location are not yet finalized. Please let Dick Horton know if you are interested through the appropriate channels.
