ALL HANDS RAFT-UP NOTICE
Due to the inclement weather, the previous raft up was postponed. Message from FC follows:

Please advise if you are interested in continuing to try for this event. September does have some nice weather. Unless we hear from YOU we will advise all units to proceed independently and will not reschedule at the flotilla level.

Change of Watch a success

Change of Watch @ The Four Brothers on 25 Jan 09
The annual Division 6 Change of Watch ceremony was held on Sunday, January 25th at the Four Brothers Restaurant in Lake Mahopac, NY. There were about 60 USCG Auxiliary members and their guests in attendance from every one of the 7 flotillas within the Division, who guard the shores of Lake Mahopac, NY, the Hudson River, NY, or Mamaroneck, Long Island Sound, NY. Several senior leaders of the Active Duty Coast Guard were also on hand to participate in the event and offer their appreciation to the Auxiliary members for their service and for their significant contributions as part of Team Coast Guard.

It was an afternoon of acknowledging the new Division and Flotilla elected leadership. Many awards were presented in recognition for the many hours of work and service given by the all volunteer members in program areas such as, but not limited to Public Education, Vessel Safety Checks, and Operations underway or in the air. All seemed to have a good time in fellowship and in bidding on the many interesting items at the Silent Auction, as well learning of the upcoming 2009 vision and mission of our new Division Commander. Recall: Lower Hudson River Alert

The treated sewage discharge planned for tomorrow (Friday) has been CANCELLED. Please disregard the previously released public advisory (follows):

Posted 9/18/08 9:39 AM:
The boating public should be alerted to the following information regarding a treated sewage discharge planned during maintenance on Friday, Sept. 19th. This alert appears here in reprinted form from a distribution by the Yonkers Paddling & Rowing Club:

Ken Jenkins, our local legislator on the County Board of Legislators has
sent our club the following press release from Westchester County

"The Westchester County Department of Health is notifying boaters and
marinas on the Hudson River that there will be a controlled discharge of several
million gallons of screened and chlorinated raw sewage into the Hudson River
between 1 AM and 5 AM on Friday, provided it does not rain.

The treated sewage bypass is needed so that a flange gasket on the North
Yonkers trunk sewer line can be replaced, thereby avoiding a potential major
sewage spill. The repairs are planned for a time when sewage flows through these
sewer pipes are lowest to minimize the discharge.

The flange gasket was last replaced in 2001.

As a precaution, boaters and people who use the waters from Tarrytown to the Bronx for recreational purposes should avoid direct contact with the water on Friday"

If anyone has any questions they can contact Caren Halbfinger, from the
Westchester County Health Dept.
